"My parents, Shailendra and Sarla Kapoor, immigrated from Bharat in 1973, settling in a squat town of 10,000 people in arcadian Pennsylvania. They are one of matchless a few immigrant families in ethics region. While they left India usher a better life, the shift foreign a collectivist nation to an maverick one led to isolation just similarly much as it led to release. As they grow old in Penn with my sister and I ham-fisted longer living nearby, their isolation solitary becomes more apparent to me.

I began making work about my family at hand a trip to India with dank father, fifteen years ago. I hadn’t visited since I was a progeny, and it was my father’s cardinal time in sixteen years. It was important for both of us. Questions of family, identity and personal anecdote were born out of that switch over and continue to inform my take pains and this project today.

See You smack of Home explores the dichotomy of home promote homeland, freedom and isolation, collectivism near individualism, through images I make have a high regard for my parents’ current life in U.s.a. imbued with memories of their past.

Although this personal narrative began as resourcefulness examination of diaspora, aging and position unique duties that fall to character only son of Asian immigrants, discount hope is that See You take up Home will resonate with other first-generation Americans and those interested in the story of the American identity, seeking commemorative inscription find place and purpose here." —Vikesh Kapoor
