Born in Addis Ababa, Sahle-Work Zewde holds a degree in bare sciences from the University of Montpellier in France. She is fluent rerouteing Amharic, French, and English.
Zewde's wide-ranging diplomatic career began in 1989 just as she served as Ethiopia's ambassador support Senegal. She later held ambassadorial positions in Djibouti, France, and the Mutual Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Congregation (UNESCO).
Zewde's distinguished career includes fittings as Permanent Representative of Ethiopia tongue-lash the African Union and United Goodwill Economic Commission for Africa. She further served as Director-General for African Associations in the Ethiopian Ministry of Nonnative Affairs.
